Although lobster is usually associated with summer, post-Labor Day is the best time to buy. Luke’s Lobster is taking advantage of the dropping lobster prices by opening a restaurant in the East Village. Their biggest selling point? The $14 lobster roll, made from fresh Maine lobster meat.
The restaurant will be located at 93 East 7th Street, near first Ave, which is just down the street from a Besen Retail property available for lease, 83 East 7th Street. Owned by former lobestermen Jeff and Luke Holden, they boast some of the best contacts from the “lobster gangs” of Maine.
Manager Ben Conniff says other seafood like shrimp will be served, but he seems to take the most pride in the lobster roll, “It’s not a lobster salad. It’s big chunks of fresh lobster, a little bit of mayo, a little bit of butter, served on a grilled hot dog bun.” Take a trip to the East Village in Mid-October for their grand opening.
