Ping Pong in Vacant Grand Street Space

A ping pong parlor will open tomorrow in a vacant Grand Street space on the Lower East Side, just East of Essex Street. Ben and Hall Smyth, the owners of the LES Wedding Chapel, thought of the concept through their design firm, “Grand Opening.” The firm creates different pop-up shops every month. The space was formerly a Wolner’s Shoes, but now will be a place for pong, Ben and Hall’s attempt to create more excitement on Grand Street. Grand Opening’s web page says, “Visitors can play pick-up games, or become members and compete for a chance to win the LES cup.” A “Members Only Clubhouse” will even be in the downstairs portion of the building. Want to become a member? Head to 397 Grand Street tomorrow, nearby space for lease 75 Orchard Street.
