The Sweet Life candy shop

As much as we all love the Halloween costumes, haunted houses, and scary events, the true industry driving the Halloween Season is candy. While many of us have grown out of lugging a sack stuffed with Reeses Cups and Tootsie Rolls through the streets, we all need something to satisfy our sugar drive.

If there is one candy store to put at the top of your list this season, make it Sweet Life, at 63 Hester Street at Ludlow Street. With 25 years serving NYC’s candy needs, the shop is a Lower East Side landmark. Besides the usual candy store staples, jelly beans, lollipops, and milk chocolate bars, Sweet Life also has novelty candy, fudge, European treats, organics, Kosher, and Halloween specialty candy. Indulge in pumpkin pie fudge at $9.50 a pound, milk chocolate apples filled with caramel for 70 cents each, or gummy pumpkins for $6.99 a pound. The shop even offers gummy rats, spiders, and teeth. My favorite will still always be the candy corn pumpkins.

With a motto of “anything can be dipped in chocolate,” the Sweet Life is always coming up with chocolate combinations. Give the dark chocolate covered peanut butter and jelly sandwich a try, or maybe the chocolate covered s’mores. For those of you that can’t make it to Sweet Life but still want a taste, purchase online at their website. The selection will not disappoint you!
