Checking in with the Lower East Side Girls Club

As  The Real Deal reported earlier this week, construction is well underway on the Lower East Side Girls Club. Located at 101 Avenue D, the LEED Gold-certified building, developed by the Dermot Company, boasts 78 affordable rental housing, 30,000 square feet of recreational space for the Girls Club members, as well as 4,700 square feet of prime retail space (which is where we come in).

We paid a quick visit to the construction site, and couldn’t help but notice the beautiful murals created by the members of the soon to be Girls Club, pictured above and below:

Although the development is still in the preliminary stages of construction, we are still actively seeking potential tenants for the retail space, so let us know if your interested!

224 Atlantic Avenue LEASED (you can stop calling now)

The former Cartridge World at 224 Atlantic Avenue has officially been leased to the good folks at Metro PCS.  The space is down the block from Trader Joe’s, and a soon to be Barney’s NYC Co-op, which basically means that there will be a ridiculous amount of foot traffic, all the time.

Although our For Lease signs are still up, they will be taken down very soon and  I can assure you that the space is in fact off the market.

Please stop calling.

Brand new storefronts have just been put at our spaces for lease on Broadway and 204th street in Inwood. There are four stores total, ranging from about 400 to 750 square feet.

Besen Retail Leases 2,250 Square Feet in East Harlem

Besen Retail recently inked a deal with the Little Sicily Pizza Corporation,  leasing out 2,250 square feet of retail space at Tapestry, 245 East 124th Street, in East Harlem.

The building is owned by a joint venture of Jonathan Rose Companies and Lettire Construction Corporation, and boasts brand new construction, and offers tons of luxury amenities, as well as a generous number of environmentally conscious green features, which see to be all the rage nowadays.

There’s still plenty of space left at Tapestry, and we’re actively seeking tenants. There are 2 remaining spaces, one about 4,500SF and the other at 1,600SF.

Rosario’s Famous La Bella Pizza and Pasta: ‘Coming Soon’ to Astoria, Queens

Yesterday I took a trip into queens to get an update on the recently leased 38-01 Ditmars Boulevard. Although the gates were shut, I was happy to see a sign posted saying that the authentic Italian pizzeria is set to open later this season.

This summer, I had a quick sit-down with Rosario, owner and operator of La Bella,  during the lease signing for the space. Our conversation was brief and entirely about pizza. Rosario told me about all the necessary steps required in order to successfully run an authentic pizza shop; from the special care he takes in making and baking the dough to get the perfect amount of flakiness from his crusts,  to the surprisingly extensive selection process he employs in order to pick the perfect variety of tomatoes for his sauce. It was obvious from the get-go that this guy knows his way around a pizza oven.

Be sure to expect lots more coverage on Rosario’s Famous La Bella Pizza and Pasta, when their doors officially open later this fall.

Hanging a Besen Retail Sign: Power Drill Edition

Thanks to our good friend and building manager, Willie, we were able to hang up our sign at 4250 White Plains Road in record time, leaving us plenty of time for canvassing.

Of course, Willie’s kindness didn’t go unnoticed:
