Space Spotlight: 44 Trinity Place

6 10 2009
44 Trinity Place in the Financial District

44 Trinity Place in the Financial District

In a prime downtown location, 44 Trinity Place includes approximately 2,000 SF plus a basement. The property extends all the way back to Greenwich Street, and sits within one block from the 1, R, and W trains. This featured property is in the heart of the Financial District, close by the World Trade Center site, Wall Street, and the New York Stock Exchange.

Neighbored by men’s department store Syms, and designer discount superstores like Century 21 and Daffy’s, this area is a deal-searcher’s dream. Other fashionista hot spots include True Religion denim, Hermes, and even Tiffany’s. Don’t forget to grab lunch while you are in the area, with popular chains like TGI Friday’s and Delmonico’s, and smaller spots like Cafe Bravo, Cordato’s Deli, and George’s restaurant, which give the neighborhood a homey feel.

One of the most appealing features is Battery Park, just a few blocks away. Here you can break away from the bustle of the city, while enjoying the greenery on the ocean. A farmer’s market is also at the end of the park, with boxes of apple donuts, fresh tomatoes, and a table full of pies.

44 Trinity Place would make an excellent spot for a salon, a restaurant, or any other use. Please call 212-213-6480 for leasing information.

Eat like Drew Barrymore in the East Village

14 09 2009

Just one block away from featured space 83 E. 7th Street in the East Village, sits the Brick Lane Curry House on E. 6th Street. While the city is filled with Indian restaurants, Brick Lane Curry House says it differentiates itself with its flash and its English-Indian menu. With a purple neon sign flashing its name and an elegant and classy interior, the restaurant specializes in the art of curry, from the classic Tikka Masala to the fiery Vindaloo, which can all be served with chicken, lamb, goat, fish, shrimp, paneer, tofu, and vegetables.

Celebrity couple Drew Barrymore and Justin Long recently visited the restaurant (as reported by People) without a reservation and went unrecognized. After enjoying their spicy dinner, they left the waiter a 30 percent tip and Drew talked up the manager.

Named for Brick Lane in London, the restaurant has been recognized by New York Magazine in their “Where to Eat” special, as well as by Zagat and The New York Post. Visit the East Village tonight for a plate of Tikka Masala and stop by 83 E. 7th street to see a fabulous featured space.

Tea Time

11 09 2009

tea

Today’s constant drizzle, random wind gusts, and mild temperature remind me of the weather in London. The more I reminisced about my months abroad, the more I wanted tea. Unfortunately I do not have my college roommate’s tea collection at my disposal (or her tea generosity), but luckily New York has a variety of tea rooms for me to choose from, and many of them are located close to our featured spaces for lease.

In the West Village, just down the street from a featured space, 24 Horatio Street (and across from a cafe favorite of mine, Soy) is Tea and Sympathy. With British decor and a menu featuring English favorites like bangers and mash and shepherd’s pie, they carry every tea flavor imaginable, from rose petal to vanilla mint.

Shopping on the Lower East Side during fashion week? Stop in Teany for your afternoon tea. Not only can you purchase a steaming cup, but you can purchase loose leaf tea to take home and tea accessories. Complete with the cute Teany logo, the jumbo latte mug, the teapot with filter, and the classic coffee mug are must haves!

By far the most homey of the New York tea rooms is the East Village’s “Podunk.”  With its kitchy, yard sale-esque decor, this tea room offers over 20 “tea meals,” pasteries or sandwiches paired with different teas. Food options include cucumber sandwiches, scones, cupcakes, and buicuits, and tea choices include custom blends like creamsicle, apple mango chamomile, and organic sage sencha.

A New Course of Restaurants Enters NYC

2 09 2009

As Fall approaches and leases end, a new course of restaurants enters the New York Dining Scene. According to the New York Times, this wave of eateries is tending to be more casual, as more diners are demanding lower prices and more relaxed atmospheres.

Craving comfort food? In September a restaurant serving only macaroni and cheese, Macbar, will open on Laffayette Street. Across the bridge in Prospect Heights, Brookyn, Piquant will open its doors with a Southwestern menu. If you are looking for something sweeter, Led Zeppole makes its debut with fried street-fair treats.

The Times also notes that seafood shacks may be the new burger joints, as there will be six of them in Greenwich Village alone.  Grill 81 on West 63rd Street will soon be downsizing into Ed’s Chowder House. Another downsized restaurant, Mermaid Oyster Bar will open on MacDougal with “a shacky look,” serving seaside and raw bar specialties.

For those of you looking for a fancier fare, you may have to look a bit harder. For the rest of us, bring on the fried clams.
